True mate but their 2nd try was lucky, good kick yer but on a normal day and a better pitch the ball would have just run off and our lads got their legs tied in knots as the pitch was so soft.
Sheffield came to win and they will be gutted they lost after being in a winning position, we did very well to get back from the dead - well done lads I never saw that coming. At the end we did look like the ones that were most likely to be able to keep going, they looked a bit out of it but we have to cut out silly passes coming away from our line, why do we do it???
Phew is the feeling, Sheffield do brilliant with such low support, they are like Rochdale of 3/4 years ago, annoying you but have to respect them, how do they do it? I guess its all down to Mark Aston, when he packs up they will be nothing.

We would have lost that game last season and by some margin as well. In the last 20 we built pressure and did to Sheffield what they normally do to us - forced the mistakes. Showed a lot of character to come back from 26 -12. Thought Sheffield were going to run 40 up at that point and couldn't see us scoring.

Improving every game and that is 3 points we didn't get last season.

Thats a great point - was it 3 drop outs we forced in that period? I think them having to defend more told in the end - we looked much stronger finnishing the game.

Still not sure how we won that one. We could neither tackle nor pass for sixty minutes. Frank and Said managed to turn the tide in the end.

Don't forget we were a man down for ten minutes towards the end as well.

Excellent game to watch as a neutral. Thought the Sheffield pack dominated for the first hour, but Watene and Wrench turned up all of a sudden to give a bit of a platform for Penky and Royston to work from and it was all one-way traffic from then, though I thought Sheffield showed some absolutely immense defending for their line. Might have been very different had Worrincy not taken that interception and it had remained 0-12 for a while longer.

Miles more enjoyable than the rubbish I endured at Elland Road afterwards though.

Match fitness is key for those retuning espeically with no reserves side. The run against Ovenden will help too.

Fantastic resuly by the lads. Yes we looked as though we were lacking a bit of cohesion but Sheffield are a couple of games down the line and we showed some true grit coming back when we were 14 points behind. When we scored to get to 8 points behind Black celebrated the try like we had won the game then went round all the players geeing them up. Thats when we said were not done in this game theres still a lot of fight left in us yet and boy was there.
We made a lot of basic errors but we know these grounds dont suit us and if we can dig results out in them circumstances we can be in a great position when the dry grounds finally arrive. Very impressed with our pack again today. I thought Maloney was immense in his stints although he did make one or two mistakes. His work ethic though is second to none. Said is just awesome, im not usually one for liking forwards(more a half back person myself lol) but could watch him play rugby all day. I thought he did well to hold his temper as long as he did all the cheap shots he took. Couldnt blame him for blowing up the tackle on him was straight on his jaw with intent and the guy should have walked. Good game by big Frank started this season like he did the last one, lets hope he can hold his form all the way through because he is a great asset playing like that. Penky, frustrating one minute brilliant the next, got a feeling hes going to have a good season. Black and Branigan pretty quiet but they will get better. Goddard got caught a few times in defense which was unusual but it looked like him that got there to pressure the guy chasing the kick where he knocked on over the line. Worrincy just awesome. Great read for the interception, a real 12 pointer. Work, work, work and made yards every time. Also cant remember him making an error which was the only thing that let him down last season. As for Royston, Try scoring machine. Right place at the right time, the try where he turned the fullback was pure quality. Was 26/1 for the top tryscorer may be worth a shout.
Overall good result against a very good Sheffield team that will take points off a lot of teams.

I think we could do with sorting out some sort of plan when we get onto an opponents line. We just seemed to lack knowledge of what we should do when we're there. Penky finally got that try near the end, but after how long on their line? All credit to Sheffield, their defence held up strong. But with players like Said, Frank and Maka, running onto a ball they could of gone over at short range surely?

They used to do it a couple years back with Frank, and nobody could seem to stop him.

That's a bit contradictory, "we haven't got a clue" but then Penky scores, but after how long ?.....

Sometimes you have to give the other team credit for staying solid, but hey, we scored 32 points, so how good was their defence really ? That's a point every couple of minutes. We'll be hitting good form soon, stay patient.

Did i hear right yesterday when they annouced Bob Beswick as MOM, i thought he had a very poor game. The whole team was poor and lacked invention.

He was appauling, he hit the deck as soon as somebody breathed on him and ran away from making tackles he is past it.

We won but we need to be a hell of a lot better.

There was a lot of mistakes out there yesterday but calling a guy appauling after one game in those conditions is a bit harsh IMO.

it has been just about every game for a while now he is past it and hides out on the wing

we could put good youngsters in who will try all match and not go missing

larder made 1 break yesterday and could not get away from the line as he is sooooooooo slow.

he has a good rugby brain but his body is not upto it now

Larder plays the full 80 mins & also covered for Said after his sin binning.

Whilst it wasnt a stand out game for him, he still got through an enormous amount of work.

As for you saying he's hiding away for a while, remember the play off against Fev, wasnt it he who had a storming game, mainly in defence, but turned the game for us nether the less.

You have a remarkable inability to read the game. Do you stare at your feet for 80 minutes? Well worth £15.

What i'm trying to say, with forwards like Said and Maka. We should be looking to power our way in from short range like that.
