| [quote="Faxlore":385a6xgm]Many folk on here talk about the club putting poser up, advertising boards ect. All good osier but everything costs money wand we don’t have money.[/quote:385a6xgm]
You would hope the club would think outside the box. Poster printing really isn't that expensive and the club must have contacts in that field. Get them to print it and give them something for nothing that does not cost the club money, let them or a company pay for it and put their logo all over it. What do you get for some of the £250 cheaper match sponsorships? Those can't cost the club that much can they? Bang half of that money in to advertising posters and you really only need to get 6 extra people in the ground to be around breakeven. That is just the bare minimum for advertising and even someone with very little creativity should be able to achieve similar.
It's really not that hard and its a worry that the people running the club are penny pinching so hard that they can't see the wood for the trees. The club needs a huge overhaul.

| Well I’ve never seen a poster advertising something for £25 that i’ve no interest in and taken up the offer, has anyone else that motivated you to go and keep doing so?

Bingo. What is Fax's brand at the moment? It's that we are a begging club, a club that people should feel sorry for. In the latest article about the game on LRL our CEO is worried that we may not get 850 paying customers through the gate against one of the best teams in SL. If that is the attitude from the person at the top then what hope do we have?
I get that this is a tough sell game for many reasons, Ive said myself on TRL that the draw really does not appeal to me and in my opinion is literally the worst draw that we could get with no hope of progression and a low crowd but I saw the Catalan squad and saw Sam Tomkins name and had forgot he was still playing and straight away i'm thinking how great it is to see one of my favorite players of all time possibly playing at the Shay. Catalans certainly have some players that could have helped sell this game for Fax but the way this game has been marketed we may as well have been playing Dudley Hill.

Well we’re not advertising on TV or debating the value of advertising in general just the means of doing it and in context would a poster work for you then Tony?
Do you know of anyone that it has done?
Would a poster bring the price of admission down or motivate someone to spend the current asking price of £25 on something they either have lost or have no interest in on a freezing Saturday for a game there expecting odds on to lose likely by a significant amount?
By the way the club have done this in the past and it made no difference to attendances but If someone thinks that a few posters / flyers would make any difference for this game above and beyond the other platforms that the club have used such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, then that’s up to them and is one thing and is nothing more than an opinion based on nothing more than that!
But when their great idea isn’t taken up it’s another thing for those people to use it as an angle to belittle what the club have done and somehow connect that to the major issues affecting the entire game shows very little awareness of the reality never mind awareness of brand.
The reality is the game as a whole is on it’s ar%e, the club just like the rest are caught up in it all with their own set of individual issues involving the ground, tax of a dormant company from years ago etc etc etc, there simply aren’t any quick fixes for the club or for the game as a whole.
For a fact the 2 remaining directors have personally given up their health and their wealth (to the sum of hundreds of grand) (and serious illnesses) affecting their lives and their wives and larger families.
For months they have been battling the huge challenges that we know something of and trying to keep the club afloat, at the same time and currently their working hard behind the scenes on trying to get new ownership in that can really take the club forward so please forgive them for having other things on their minds and not using a few posters / flyers and take that into account when talking about awareness.

You'd be surprised at the "power of the poster", faxcar! There's a poster stuck on my local's wall when they decide to hold a pub quiz. It's not the same day every week so it's not as though the attendees turn up automatically .... and it must work because quz nights are well attended. Then our local annual rush bearing festival is advertised through banners and leaflets. And it's packed. Then we have the regional galas getting plugged by banners, etc ....... how else would people know? I could go on! (But I won't )

We looked very good, our pack won't get rolled much this season and that alone will make a huge difference. We won't be in a relegation scrap.
Ive said on here before that i like McComb I just don't see him as a back rower but he was outstanding today and Douglas when fit is class and Im struggling to think of a prop of his quality since back when we had big Mitch playing for us. Our goal line defence was excellent and any pack that stands up to Catalan this season will have done well. If that don't get people excited for the season then i don't know what will.

Ah yes. Silly me and the club not seeing the connection and relevance of your locals quiz night and rush bearing festival and how it relates to the current state of rugby league but I guess others will have missed it as well.
How come you haven’t put one up for the Panthers then if there so effective, surely you must have a printer and being in full agreement follow the comments and advice on here about looking outside the box and being so easy to do……..?

| Everything’s relative and don’t know what it looked like on TV and what the commentators were saying but that was one of the best overall showings from a Fax side I’ve seen for a long time and the best advertisement for the club and Championship rugby league as a whole that could have been hoped for.
That was a real across the park team display with a togetherness not seen before with especially the defence looking outstanding, early days and a long way to go but the teams light years ahead in every regard from were we’ve been previously at this stage of the season and for long periods you wouldn’t have known who the SL team was.
Let’s hope it can trigger some more support that it deserves from other sponsors and the 806 in attendance.

Today's game isn't even advertised on the boards around The Shay. The Barrow game in two weeks time is. That is just downright amateurish.

| What a fantastic performance that was from Fax. Loads to be positive about especially the return of Cally and Brandon Douglas. That's like having two new signings. I still think Woody is wasted at half back but that is the coaches choice. What we need to do now is take that performance into next week's game at Sheffield. Up The Fax!

Yes we know but on the other hand the real reason is the club chose to put the Barrow sign up before the cup draw was made was to give as much notice to the regular season as possible and having done that promoted the Cup game through numerous other channels.
After a performance like the lads have put on today you want to call that amateurish and focus on that then do so.
However IMHO that is just downright pathetic to be honest.

| So my observations on the three games is that the pack look as good as ever , Douglas promises to be the prop we've been crying out for , hird looks solid , calcott carrying on from were he left off, dixon did 12 mins then another short stint but with match fitness looks another strong forward . Hanson is getting better and defensively looks than keyes , whilst having woody at 6 may surrender some attacking flair him and hanson are better in d than jouffret and keyes . With tangata and Davies to bolster the pack and some additions from saints there's bags of potential . Main thing for me is the discipline is alot better, combined resilience in d where games are nip n tuck bodes well for the future.

And.
My observations on the team of the three moaning bleeders on here are as bad as ever.

| Frustrating thing was that if Hanson takes that pass clean then he goes the length of the field and puts us in front with about 15 minutes to go and in the position where a shock could have been a real possibility. The ref missing that Catalans knock hurt as well but who would have thought a 0-0 half time score and that sort of showing. Kyle Eastmond must be delighted with that.
To add to that we were really quite impressive in poor ball situations and made a lot of yards against such a good team has to be a good sign for the championship season.

| Apparently a loose flyer blew into Hanson’s face as he made the break otherwise it could have been game on.

Aye, it would have been interesting to see if Hansen could have gone the length although Charlie Graham would have been up in support, unlucky.

| That was a cracking performance from the lads full of desire and commitment. We put some nice moves on in attack too which we just couldn't nail a couple of moments from Hanson when he just cant reel in the intercept and he makes a break and kicks the ball away instead of taking the tackle close but no cigar. The ref missed a knock on by them when we was attacking there line which at that stage of the game we really could of done with. All in all that should give us plenty to look forward to for the season ahead roll on Sheffield.
