Fev's pack dominated for large parts of the game, they looked better all across the field to me with a number of strong performances, in contrast hard to pick a Fax player who stood out for more than just the odd moment.

We are still giving too many penalties in general defence and turning too much ball over when in possession, I bet the tackle count was for Fax went through the roof.

At one stage we had done 100 more tackles than Fev!!!!!

Best team won I was surprised we were still in it until their last try tbh. We put the effort in and tackled well but they also tackled well snuffing us out, how we need somebody to back up Muzza teams know all our kicks go through him whilst Fev had too kickers to out us under the cosh or relieve pressure not that we had much.
Hey ho they now have a potential big game against a SL team and a mid week league game to play, lets hope we can play better when we go there in the league.

Best team won, albeit we gave it everything and with a couple of breaks going our way it could have been a different result.

Fev were very disciplined throughout, which meant we had far more tackling to do, especially in our own half. Impressed with how Fax kept in the game, despite being under the cosh for long periods. A lot of other teams would have imploded and lost by a cricket score.

All credit to Fev. They deserved the win given the way they played, especially given they lost two players through injury.

Jonno showed just a glimmer of the spark we need with his try. Going forward, we're generally just too predictable, with the steamroller run by Ben Heaton being a highlight for us. Our general play with the ball is just not quick enough.

We had to tackle more due to mistakes and ill discipline . We allowed Fev to play the ball far quicker (too quick in my opinion). Fev slowed us down at the play the ball by getting more men into the tackle . Basically we allowed fev to dictate the play and control the game. We had little field possession to score any points. When we did get good field possession we scored tries.
On the balance of play fev was better team and cant really grumble at 1 or 2 decisions that went against us.

The only positive to take out of that game was our defence stood pretty firm despite the amount of ball that Fev had. You can't defend like that for 80 minutes though and as has been said the mean reason for that once again was our discipline, some of the things in the first half could be excused as half of the penalties awarded we given incorrectly but the basic ones like giving a penalty away when in possession are unforgivable.

As for our attack, it was pretty poor and come the end of the season we will be the lowest scoring team going for the top 4 by some distance. At some point you have to question why that is and one of the reasons has to be RM's reluctance to commit to 1 half back combination, the team simply can not know how they will play from one week to the next with so many HB combinations been tried. How that can help continuity in attack is beyond me.

I guess the other positive from last is that despite all that with 10 minutes to go we were still in with a chance of winning the game despite Fev been so far on top.

15 mins to go,5 points down,playing downhill,back to full compliment of 13,thought we would win but we had expended the energy that got us in that position.1700 crowd was embarrassing as was our paltry 100 even though it's life on mars at the old den as a welcoming.

Calhane let us down he give penalty after penalty. Even when he had the ball in are own 20 he pulled the fev players leg causing him to fall and giving a penalty.

Defence was really good last night but we were always going to give some points away in the end. The reason why we had to tackle so much though was down to some brain fart rugby, giving away stupid penalties (Adam and Mitch), if we are to finish top four we need to cut this out as eventually these penalties will yield points for the opposition.
Shame about the two Fev injuries from their perspective but it may help us, along with their extra cup game, in the long run.

All about the league now so let's make the extended break between matches count.

Best team won last night and I wish Fev all the best for the Quarter Finals - we couldn't seem to live with the pace , energy and intensity that Fev played at - there were some good glimpses but our indiscipline let us down far too many silly penalties esp by Mitch C - conceding a penalty when you're in possession with good field position is no good!!

Just watched it through again and same as before, Fev were clearly the better side on the night.
Decisions that could have been iffy, nah nowt in it for the forward pass and Turner clearly gets it down.
Noticed the 100 extra tackles and that tells the story. EDIT: At 6 tackles per set that's nearly 17 extra sets of tackling. Bloody hell!!!
3 half backs in the squad and 3 centres, 4 if you count Grady on the pitch and although they went fairly well it costs you something in size and impact.
In spite of the daft penalties and poor set completion we did well to hang on in and still be in with a shout with 10 to go.
Cut all the above crap out and we could be so much better.
Hope the injuries to the Fev lads aren't too bad as ligaments can be nasty.

Same most weeks and sometimes we get away with it as far as the result is concerned but the same faults are still there.
As the wise man said "If you keep doing the same things in the same way you end up with the same result".
These weaknesses get exposed by the better sides or even by a middle table side who turn up and on the day play out of there skins.

We would have won that game if our discipline had been only half as good as it were.
