What about a Sports parade in Halifax where ALL Sports clubs in Calderdale are invited to join. Fax could sponsor it alongside the Courier, Halifax, Calderdale Council. Could march through the town and end at the Shay. Each U16s/Youth that joins in is giving a free ticket to the next home game as a reward for joining in the parade. Would not cost too much and would get Fax amongst others involved more in the community. Also a Photo session could be done where youngsters can get their photo with any of the Fax players and a stall selling Fax merchandise and AFC Town, Courier, Calderdale Council could have stalls alongside face painting and bouncy castle etc.

What was our attendence against the Crusaders last year? Wouldn't have thought it would have been much higher than that.

You cannot compare SL to Championship crowds as ON AVERAGE the away team take 1k plus its the pinnacle of RL in this country (allegedly) with all the coverage etc... that brings. Like it or not its the SL people want to watch other than diehard fans like us!
Also remember Celtic Crusaders brought all of 20 fans.
I keep saying it but when the East Stand is finished we will get more fans as it will be a much better experience for those who will use it and it will make the Shay feel like a proper stadium rather thna the depressing sight it has been for 8 years.

How about denying a whole school- kids, parents and staff - the chance to have professional sports players and a popular mascot at their gala because they happen to come from a few miles down the road. Is that playing fair?

Got to say - this whole idea of going into other areas for promotions and "tapping up" fans is totally fair in my opinion. Sorry JFFC but it's a free market, if the Bulls or the Giants want to come into Calderdale to do their stuff then so be it. Instead of hand wringing - we are totally free to do the same ourselves. It's a dog eat dog free market economy and it 's boundaries don't stop at the gates of Rugby League.

I agree that it is a free market in terms of each club needs to do what it can to boost it's own crowds, but I'm sure that what JFFC is referring to is that there was some rule/agreement that clubs wouldn't poach in other clubs areas, for the good of the game, but the big ger clubs do it anyway.

Well soon it will be payback time and Fax should be going into Queensbury, Clayton, Wibsey etc and poaching some back.

Why not? We are comparing Quins crowd against a team that doesnt bring more than 20 away fans, to our attendence against the same team. I would suggest that the Quins fans who attend now are just as die hard as us who go to the Shay. I think all this talk about attendences for Quins and Celtic are pointless (even though i have commented on it!!

) I think we need them in the top league. I would even go so far as getting the RLF to fund them centrally and get rid of the owners that could at any minute chose to close em down.. Take some money off the other SL clubs and put it towards them both. We need to keep developing the kids from these areas to make the game stronger nationaly.

Wales is Union and don't give a toss about RL and London is soccer and don't give a toss about RL. Maybe 3 further decades of wasted dosh and effort might .... just might .... make folk realise this.

Your right I am all for having a free market where we all go into each others areas poaching if that is what everyone agreed on but years ago there was a "gentlemans agreement" amongst clubs with borders we of course stuck to this other clubs did not. But as it now seems to be open season then I too say lets go for it. If you read my previous posts I do say if noone else bothers about activly pursuing other towns fans why should we?

Granted it doesn`t now but it used to do.

Have no real problem with Bulls and Gianst coming in to Calderdale. However its the way they have hardly promoted themselves that well in there own area. There are basically no new amateur clubs or much growth in playing numbers in Bradford and Huddersfield since 1996. Both are not Rugby areas and both clubs know its easier to get youngsters from a rugby area like Halifax than try and develop properly the game and the club in their own area. Both do a little bit of promotion in their own areas but clearly not enough.
Whilst Halifax have been lazy as well as being poorly run in that area and that has given Bradford and Huddersfield an open invitation really to make contact with Schools and even more so the amateur clubs. Things have changed but this will take time sadly for many to become regular fans of Fax and want to come down to the Shay.

London is huge. It can produce great players for a hundred and one sports.

But not Rugby LEAGUE, unfortunatley!!

Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Tony Clubb, Will Sharp, Jamie O'Callaghan, Dave Williams all came through the academy and London amateur scene.
