Id be quite happy with Kaye/Holden being our hooking options.

Well said. I also think brown is s good player. It's all rumers any way. Let's wait untill signings are confirmed and then when they are let's give them a chance before we start moaning. Some fax fans are so pesamistic they would find fault somewhere if we signed cooper cronke and Cameron smith.

Let's wait untill season is over which hopefully won't be untill the end of september before we think about next season and wait untill signings are confirmed and have played a few games for us before we start to criticise, which hopefully we won't need to. Got to give them a chance before we can decide if good signing or not

He`s not replacing Thackery, he is replacing Handforth. If you had given me a choice of any No.6 in our league last year I would have gone for him. Sheffield`s rise and final win last season was influenced by his performances. Don't really understand why he moved to York, unless it was the money. We need a good scrum half to compliment his play, but look around, who is there ?

I think the only 'poor' signings have been in the key half back and hooker positions over the last couple of years. Handforth must have only had 2 good games a year at Batley, both against Halifax!! The Thacks and Tiger partnership has not worked at all. I did think that the problem may have been Penky last season but it hasn't worked this season either. I think that the pack and three quarters are a match for any team in this division, but we have had no creativity. Lets hope some of the rumoured signings are true, and that they 'gel' this time!!

i also think thacks is very good and will be sad seeing him leave. been poor partnership and still scored plenty of tries for fax. differant partner and would have seen him at his best.

Pretty much agree with this in the real poor signings have been at half back and hooker.

Thinking we could go this season without a quality recognized hooker was a massive, massive mistake. I am very skeptical though as it feels like if the Brown and Mennell rumors are true, that we are replacing like for like and could get the same result. Getting Barlow off the wage bill must have freed up quite a bit of money and hopefully some of that will be ploughed back in to signing a top quality half back or hooker.

Like paying Barlow too much so we couldn't keep penky and bringing in the Ashalls, or letting Black go and bringing in handforth because the coach doesn't like Australians. We had options but made bad choices. Now we are seeing other teams retaining the best due to next years reshuffle.

I want the best team we can and if that means Australians in those key positions then so be it. Karl did a fine job with the pack and murrell. If we had penky and black would this year be different. Personally I think so. It's not over yet though.

I personally think despite Featherstone quashing the Finn rumour, he will be a Halifax player next season. They had to come out with something based on what March said, based on the lad's testimonial and in the run up to the play off's, they had to say something. After the season is over there will be an announcement that 'The player wanted to play for his hometown club blah blah and Halifax paid an undisclosed fee blah blah.......'. If not and you are running with Murrell and Brown its not exactly the nippiest or most prolific partnership you have had, and that is no way a dig at Murrell who has been excellent since he joined.
Whilst Thackery was not the most creative he did chip in with a lot of tries this season again, and I don't see where those would come from.
There is nobody else really about or available and I am sure KH knows where as a team you have been missing something and cant see him thinking that Brown would be the answer to that.

I don’t think we will see Finn at Halifax next year unless Fev have another change of heart. From what I hear, they gave him permission to talk to Fax and a deal was done between Fax and Finn, although Fev had still to release him from his contract. Sean Long has then advised the Fev board that it would be ridiculous to lose such a player and he rates Finn very highly, so they have therefore decided to retain him on Long’s advice. What Bastian has to say about this might be another matter!

Anyone thinking that Thackery has played his last game for us? Seems strange that all he did was turn his ankle but hasnt played since and now we seem to be hitting a bit of form it would seem silly to bring him back in.

Greg, I think Karl will bring him back at some point, but, as our mutual friend says "only Karl knows"
