Apparently they (JP) have held experiments with online subscriptions in selected areas, and in each case the apathy was overwhelming.
Trouble is you can get information from so many sources these days. It's the small, local stuff that gave the Courier an edge, and it's that 'local'ness they're stripping away. |

| As somebody who lives a 'few' miles away I look at the courier website almost daily to keep up with news back home, although primarily for Fax news. If they start to charge for the privilidge they can go swivel as I can get all the news on here. I am sure they will see their advertising revenues drop pretty quickly as a consequence if others do the same.
There again, could I cope without my daily dose of stories about dodgy dinner ladies and rogue ice-cream van drivers?  |

Seems to have slipped a bit further now, as the Huddersfield Examiner site is now reporting some storys from Halifax,
One yesterday about a Fire off the Elland By Pass, (ok thats near to Huddersfield I guess) and one today about some woman threatening to jump off a Bridge on Burdock Way (North Bridge?) Both storys online by about 9am as well.
I wonder if, since the courier stopped putting the days news online early doors (seems to be more of the sports stuff they're witholding) if their circulation has increased.
