Not on your nellie, it's a smokescreen for a club desprerate to stay in SL & another club just as desperate to get into SL by any which way possible.

If Fev don't make 1st or 2nd position it won't be for a lack of trying i'll give them that, but if the boot was on the other foot & it meant Halifax & Bradford Northen/Bulls i'd be waving tattie-byes from the top of a grassy hill while
walking away to a new pastime to replace following professional rugby league.

Fev have enjoyed their greatest times for two or three decades over the most recent four or five seasons, success & competition-wise, i cannot see that improving beyond this season somehow.

I'd like to say "good luck" but "luck" doesn't come into this equation.

Thats the problem that I see for all. We have a new system coming in (again!) and people are busting a gut to allegedly move to the utopian land promised by the RFL. And yet again the goalposts move. I dont trust the RFL and I would not be surprised to see Toulouse come in and take a spot in SL at the expense of somebody like Leigh or fev or for the rules to change 12 months into the new system being in operation.
Fev are bricking it fearing they will miss the top 2 finish. But is it really worth all the hassle that Fev are going through and the potential damage that Dual Reg offers in chasing the utopian dream? The Top 2 are going to be struggling against the dregs of SL anyway as you can bet it wont be a fair system. I can see Fev and Leigh thinking what a waste it was busting a gut to finish in the top 2 in a couple of years. And as Colin points out, Wakey players are strugglin in SL and I cant see them being much better if at all than what Fev have. It just comes across as panic stations

Fev are reacting to Leigh's complete turnaround and that is a recipe for disaster, especially in the knee-jerk manner it's happened. Quite funny how you've got Halifax who seem to be driving along like Miss Daisy and you have Featherstone falling out of the sky like chicken little and in the middle of them both you have Leigh - strutting around in their new suit

The key for us at Leigh is to go FT on full cap and build that culture, so when in about 3 years they go to two 10/12's we fit straight in with the French teams coming onboard
What has gone unnoticed is how young our squad is Duffy Spencer Armstrong Kaye acton brierley sarsfield pitman McNally all about 21-23 and Barlow emmitt haggerty Hopkins not much older. The only ovr 30's being Wilkes penky and goulden
We have a cracking young hooker on debut this weekend I believe, who if he plays to his pre season form will make it difficult to drop him imo
Most of that team will be FT and have the years ahead of them to bulk up and get better

Agree pretty much with that BUT - the difficulty is stopping current SL clubs from snapping up your current talent. You've done an excellent job so far fending off Koukash for Brierley after he blatantly tapped him up on twitter and as you say, in this regard it is essential that you offer FT contracts to stop this from happening. Easier said than done though.

The Fev fan's line of defence that they had no option because of circumstances is pathetic, their rivals for the 2nd spot Halifax and Sheffield do not use DR it's all about competitive advantage. Admit it and stop wriggling.

As a point of interest, is it only Fax and Sheffield left in the championship who haven't sold their soul?

Personally I don't like dual reg but, as I have said, if a club thinks it's best for them then good luck.
One problem the opposing coach has when facing a duel reg team is that he has no way of knowing who will be playing for the opposition and therefore it's harder to plan.
Like Workington the other week, 3 Wigan players, who were probably the best players for them. Karl would have no knowledge whether these players would appear or not. Difficult to work a game plan when you don't know the make up of the opposition.
Just a thought.

Charlie, I've supported Fax, my team, for well over fifty years. If they ever went DR I would be off because it wouldn't be MY club any more. We live in Huddersfield now and tonight like after any other Fax game we will be out in shudds with our Fax shirts on having a drink and a laugh with the giants massive.

How could we do that if we were being told what to do by them or Leeds or the bullys God forbid? Never!

Don't get me wrong , I admire your opinions , but as I say sometimes needs must ,I have supported Leigh for the same amount of years you have followed Fax ,but I always said if an Eskimo puts a Leigh shirt on then hes a Leigh player .At the time of our DRs it suited us to go down that road , we had a thin squad not much money ,but things change , who are we to judge other Clubs needs ?

In respect your opinion but can not agree, some drifted away when we moved to summer Rugby, some drifted away when we moved to the Shay and it seems some would drift away if we went DR. For me as long as it's Halifax Rugby League Football Club playing in Halifax then they will get my support.
But as I say I respect others point of view.

I thought long and hard over my support for fev this week but if it's just this season like the club say il live with it, I'm really not happy with it but il live with it.
If in the future something more serious like a feeder or merger came along then I'd be gone.
I hate duel reg with a passion and I really won't pretend my club doing it for the rest of this season doesn't upset me because it does.

As a younger fan, I wasn't there for our "glory days" so all I have to go on are recent events but I agree that dual reg is the devil and I would rather walk away from the sport than be some super league team's B team.

But a merger with Wakefield playing at Post Office Road would in my humble opinion be good for you. Wakefield won't have a ground soon, you have a go ahead board with it seems backers, soon to be a ground fit for purpose, (SL speak)
You have a great board, so stick with your club, accept their decisions.
Wakey fans won't like it at first, but they will come round, all 1000 of them love their Rugby League,

I know that I don't go to games now as I live so far away( 12hour flight. But I do get up at stupid O clock every Sunday and listen to the little coverage I can find on the internet radio. If the club vent duel reg. I would give up and buy me a BC lions shirt.

With the greatest of respect you giving up wouldn't really affect the club.
Anyway at this point in time it's a meaningless discussion.
