As a neutral I would say your chances are NIL - the only reason I say this is because I was speaking to your club chairman at the TO game last season and even HE realised the club wasn't in a healthy enough position to even contemplate SL - he was,however,very envious of the TO set-up and belived that Fax had the same facilities & potential etc there would be no problem

All I'll say is, if we get the nod make sure your in our position next year (maybe more trophies like) but in terms of SL bid, be the standout! Don't worry about Toulouse, double their crowds and keep winning will see to that. If TO tick the boxes and get in fair play to them though.

no problems about TO for this round of bidding but they should have the stadium sorted and a more viable bid ready for the next round of franchise bidding in 2013/14

as far as i'm aware TO have made a bid for SL in 2012 but it's more in hope than expectation like any other club (without the exception of Widnes ) - they are currently sorting out thier stadium redevelopment into a 12000 capacity
which other bits don't you understand ?

Obviously TO don't understand as they haven't won the right to apply for SL this time around, they haven't reached ANY of the criteria required!! So why is it a token gesture from TO, said in myopinion like TO are doing us all a favour by applying?

Win the right to apply and nobody will have an issue with TO but we all know our sports beloved governing body will change rules, targets and anything else to ensure the game is taken further and further away from the heartlands and the origins of the sport.

Listen i'm not defending TO - i'm just giving you the facts as I undertand them by talking to the players, ex-players,officials & reading the local press & website etc
I believe (as a neutral) that TO should earn the right to their SL place like every other team - but the RFL,whether you like it or not seem hell-bent on 'expanding' the game so maybe special dispensation will be made for them.
If you believe RL should remain within the confines of the 'RL heartlands' then that's your opinion - the powers that be obviously feel differently.

Did you come over to Halifax for the TO game? as our club chairman didn't travel to Toulouse.

if your chairman is Mr Steele,then that's the person I spoke to because I was sure it was him and asked before speaking with him - he even signed my 'Game On' on the TO v Halifax page - this was at Toulouse just after the half-time break

Someone representing Fax spoke with me at TO at the last game - that's fact,not lies! thers' nothing sinister in that ! he seemed a really nice guy who said what he thought,why does that make me a liar ???

whoever this person was (sounds like Malcolm Powell chairman from the supporters trust who I mistook for the chairman of the club (I found a photo of him on you tube ) was not very confident of Faxs' credentials for SL and was envious of TOs' facilities & potential ! that's all,why does that make me a liar ? where's your problem ?

Take no notice of some on here. You obviously just made a mistake of the persons name, doesnt make you a bad person, nor should it disuade you from coming onto our message board. You are more than welcome.

That said, I dont think anyone on here really rates our chances of a Superleague lilcence this time around. But we should make the application firstly to show the RFL that we are serious about being back at the top and secondly because the outcome of the application, when refused, gives pointers where the club should concentrate for the next three years. (that is of course until they change the application rules in 2013)

what's the problem with admitting when you are wrong ? try to grow up a bit mate or get that chip off your shoulder - fortunately most of the other Fax fans i've met over the years have been decent folk - lighten up mate !

TO made the licence application for exactly the same reasons,simply to show the RFL of future intent - a rule change in 2013 would not surprise me in the slightest - I personally would bring back P & R asap to try to liven up the lower leagues but that's a completely diifferent subject...

I too agree about P&R but you have to whisper it quietly in case you get shot!

For me, the way forward is for all the championship clubs to work together to improve our SL bids so we have many clubs ready, not just the ones the RFL want to pick. The harder it is for them to pick a club and turn down others, the more obvious their bias and rule bending will be. Such a reveal will not be great for the game's credibility but sometimes needs must. it has to be made clear that the improvement in championship clubs is through the clubs' own initiative and not any RFL directive.

Most Championship clubs are better run than Super League clubs - how many are in financial trouble operating on a small percentage of a SL clubs budget, some have much to learn from us!

Just got to play the game haven't we, thats all there is to it, apply and read the joke report and see what pathetic reasons come out for justifying doing whatever they want.
On a positive note though, a lot can happen in 12 months, and they have hinted in the past that if all members agreed they could consider expanding the league further, maybe the angle of more games and more income is the best hope. If they want to copy the NRL, were smaller than the NRL so can add a few teams and can change our names to Dragons and Roosters


Its going to be interesting to see just which boxes they untick of ours now that we finally cottoned onto playing them at their own game.

I think Donny have the right idea - Carl Hall & co are trying to make a go of it and good luck to them - as you intimate,the fate of the non SL clubs is in their own hands - it needs good management and not over ambitious plans,living within your means etc - the thought of any club going out of existence sickens me.I can't see anything other than some kind of SL P & R saving the lower leagues just to give the clubs & fans something to play for - the pot o' gold is the SL for all the lower league clubs IMO

a lot more can happen in four years.
