Groundhog day Foxy, only what's been said before countless times.
Personally I'm weary of it all and will just go and watch the Fax whatever.

Pete, I know how strong you feel about the DR system, but I really believe Fax can benefit from it, when Leigh were in with Warrington and Wigan not many liked it ,but tolerated it ,and I think Leigh did benefit, just give it a chance, as some gave said it's a case of supporting Fax whatever .And for me if an Eskimo put on a Fax shirt , you should support him.I hope to see you a few times next year,as we don't have many Sunday games.

| Personally, I don't think we have a big enough squad this year to be able to loan players to Salford!

| If that is what it is, we have to trust R M 's judgement ( ! ) it still begs the questions will we get quality loanees or players looking for match fitness, and how will the displaced players feel? Again done to death previously; unless the player is injured or suspended, we should believe our current squad to rise like the Phoenix, never mind being a dark horse.

Not at all Griff,I really do think Fax will benefit from this,as Salford are not running a reserve team next season,so a few Salford players will become available, and believe me RM is no fool, he will use this arrangement to his advantage.

| What happens when we're a few months into the season and Salford have a few players injured too ?
We have teams turning up shorthanded. As we saw last season. It's not speculation or scaremongering - it's reality.
We'll have clubs asking supporters to turn up with their boots soon. Just in case.

I agree and looking at the bigger picture the game at lower levels just seems to be dying without any stuctured RFL initiatives to re generate interest and growth.
Having semi pro games where 12 players turn up or 13 with no subs should be sending alarm bells ringing within the RFL ranks.
All I see is fantastic heartland clubs like Whitehaven/Workington/Barrow grounds crumbling and doing their utmost to survive. Versus a totally disproportionate emphasis on costly speculative growth initiatives in France/London and now Canada.(I am aware that they have a money man sponsoring st the moment) There appears to be no strategic plan to me -just a governing body untouchable and not in touch with the grass roots of the game.
I believe in buidling from your foundations bottom up. RFl foundations look to be pretty insecure to me.

Fax won't be turning up with 12 players. We might only have a first team squad of 24, but have a full reserve squad as well. Youngsters they may well be, but 4 of the 2016 batch have graduated through to our first team squad for next season.

Totally agree I have said it before look at Gaelic Football do they care about expanding their game outside Ireland? = No, yet they get big crowds and the game is very strong over there.

Not sure that's a fair comparison. Yeah, they get big crowds but only for a handful of games. Watch the National League games coming up in February and they're pretty sply attended.
But, at grass roots level, the game is strong and that's reinforced by the local GAA club often being the social hub in rural areas.

| Last season we lost out to teams that used DR, it's part of the rules even though a hell of a lot of us don't like it so not using it is like playing with 1 hand tied behind our backs. I think we need to embrace it until it is no longer, though I can't see that happening as SL clubs are dropping their second string / reserves.

| We might benefit from dual reg, but I question the choice of club. If Salford are at risk of bottom 4, and our goal is top 4, then we're not far off our last dual reg effort, with a team now in the same league as us.

| I'd have preferred Leigh, but maybe they're not ready for the switch in emphasis. We have a small squad, but with a reserve team of youngsters who can and should be pushed forward when/if they're ready. Possibly not deliberate, but I think a DR deal with a SL team with no reserve team is good thing - it means that their genuine fringe players (just missing out on a 1st team 17 outing) should be available if we want them. It's down to RM to make sure he takes on the Salford players that have missed out on an SL team place and want to show that they deserve better.
