Just read through the other thread and thought some very good points were made. Just wondering who everyone would pick as the starting 13 and what changes you'd make and why?
Personally I'd go with:

1. Salty (Greenwood quite simply hasn't been good enough and Salty is better at returning the ball)
2. Sharp (Improved over last couple of games would stick with him)
3. Tyrer
4. Heaton (Deffensively better than Smeaton)
5. Saxton
6. C Robinson (Done nothing wrong in the few games he's played)
7. Jonno (Don't know how Gaz Moore is keeping it out of the squad)
8. Ambler
9. B Moore (Been better than Kaye this season)
10. Mitch
11. Manning
12. Sarsfield (didn't do much wrong)
13. Fairbank

14. Murrell (Too slow at half back, rotate him with Fairbank)
15. Tangata
16. R Moore
17. Kaye (Better than Maneely)

If I've not given a reason it's because I think they should be the first names on the team sheet every week.

Would pick Heaton over Smeaton. Looks stronger defensively and more able to break the line. Salty at FB. Murrell and Jonno in halves - why change a winning combination that worked last season. The team last season played well and gelled -cant really understand why we changed a winning formula. B Moore for me still a bit raw and should be given more time to develop. C Robinson can rotate at hooker.

The question keeps being asked about G Moore. Did he negotiate guarenteed game time when he signed ?

He's been one of our most dangerous players this season. He didn't have his best game against Batley but who did?

It's his half back partner who has been the most disappointing so far, not G.Moore.

18 murrel as been cr@p all season may be captain but not sure how he gets in the team week in week out

This. I think the last couple of games he played he were not quite as good as he has been but if people think he does not deserve a place in the team then I wonder what they are watching. It should be him and Jonno in the halfs with Murrell at 13 for me.

Gaz Moore, everybody was saying how well he playing 3 or 4 weeks ago and now he's being dropped, Murrell hasn't got any better and to me he is the weak link, I can't argue with his vision but he simply cannot get to where he needs to be to put that vision into play. We need some speed and somebody who backs up,never got to give Jhonno a go, even if we then all shut up if we've been proven wrong.

Moore and Johnson are too similar players though, both are first receivers, Johnson and Murrel for me.

Me too and I think Johnston is a better support player.

Can't believe the stick Gaz Moore is getting. Yes he was poor against Batley but has been one of our few really good players this year.

We all think the same on here that jonno should start, But i have just been near the training ground and it looks like RM is sticking with the same team jonno is the 18th man we should win this 1 whoever plays so it will look good for Marshall again. Not going to bother going to this 1 as im getting a bit bored with our lackluster performances. Marshall you are not earning your crust the undroppable need to be dropped and we might start competing again with the teams around us by for now

Harry you have got to be joking tell me this is a wind up. If this is right and Marshall does not change things we dont deserve to get in the top 4 We are becoming a laughable club. We will win on friday but so what when we play any of the teams that are half decent nil points again the ones we really do need to take points off. Jonno might aswell call it a day with fax Richard simply does not like him. I too will not be attending on friday if this is true.

Like when we got nil points off Bradford and Fev. Jesus. We're a bit inconsistent. Have a look around the league. We're not alone. Fourth place is still on.

And for the record, Gaz Moore has been in the top 2 of our best players, with Adam Tangata

I gave Gaz Moore a lot of stick before the season but I have to say he's been one of, if not the best player this season. The problem is that the team has been inconsistent week after week. We need a settled team who can get used to running lines and support play. We also need a game breaker such as Jonno who can play with his head up and see a gap rather than play by a playbook.

The players need to put their hands up because they haven't delivered what they did last season. Some of it is coaching and some of it is attitude.

Not being critical, just voicing my opinion.

I agree, Gaz Moore has been one of the better players all season. The fact that we cant accommodate Johnston in the squad with the current players available is no fault of Gaz Moore.

I also agree that Murrell has been a bit off the pace lately and would probably be best suited at Loose forward, isn't that where he played his super league years?

Not sure what the answer is but we are currently playing worse than last season in all aspects of the game, attack is void of ideas and defensively we have eased off, not hitting hard, not moving up quickly, letting some very sloppy tries in.

Last year our squad was too small and now its too big in some respects, we need to try and keep a consistent team together without change but then what happens to the guys patiently waiting their turn? They get p*ssed off with not playing and morale takes a hit. Not an easy thing to manage and right now we certainly aren't getting the combination right to suit the team

There is also the fact that other teams are stronger than last season and thus increasing the comp for top 4. London, Fev, Batley all stronger than last season. Plus i would say the teams promoted are holding their own making it a very tough league.

I am still fully behind Richard M, give him time to sort it out. What happened to "in Marshall we trust". I think at times some people lose a grip of reality in where we are in terms of a club these days. We aren't entitled to be in the top 4, we have to fight for it and I'm sure we will. We didn't get going last season until midway through the season so lets hope this year will be the same.

The next couple of games are massive now.

People saying Gaz Moore has been one of are best players, over the first 4 or 5 games I would agree with you. But he's gone backwards since then. He has a good kicking game but he very rarely takes on the line. Ben Johnston and Connor Robinson had great games against Widnes and that's why I can't understand them both been dropped for the Batley game. I'm not signalling out l Gaz Moore as the only player who had a bad game against Batley, I think with the exception of Tangata Manning and R Moore the rest of the team had a bad game against Batley. That's why I find it Bizzare that firstly Jonno and Robinson were dropped for Batley and secondly after the performance of the team against Batley they're not even included in the 19 man squad for Oldham?!

Scored one against Dewsbury doing just that. He's been a little quieter in the last 2 games but any talk of him being dropped is insane.

I agree with the people that are backing Gaz Moore. One of the better players this year so far.

Murrelll at Batley was poor but its not the first time this season that he's been poor. Complacency kicking in after a pretty much guaranteed start for the past 4 years? Maybe. Drop him completely for me and give the other lads a chance. Jonno has to play, wherever that can be decided by Marshall.

Hopefully we can get back to winning ways.
