i counted 2 times he ran with the ball in the whole game.

it was the same performance though we dont seem to learn, we didnt use the forwards enough, we knocked on too many times, too many high tackles. our disapline is awful.

the ref tonight i actually though was consistent to both sides most of the time.

we just never turned up tonight,

Not his best night but players do have them...

Black put in a couple of good kicks early on but i after his knock on his disappointment showed.

The amount of danger passes he put in tonight was unbelievable. Wasn't the only one who had a bad game though.

I can't think of two more contrasting performances in less than a week.

Against Dewsbury he was buzzing and took the line on at every opportunity and looked like his old self again. Tonight he was totally pedestrian, apart from his kick for Worrincy from the scrum I couldn't see anything he did tonight that Bowman couldn't have done and improved . It was not like he was defended out of the game like Shad was either, he didn't even bother taking the line on, just caught and passed the ball straight on in nearly every instance.

Very disappointed and frustrated because we all know what he can do and if he had shown his form from the Dewsbury game we would have had a much better chance.

i never said anything about the opposition, they were good but we had some good attacking positions too and Black for me didnt do do enough running across the line looking for hole's in the defence.

am not specifically targeting him, if you read for first post and read all of it instead of just assuming from the title of the topic then you will see i mentioned the rest of team too.

he's overcoming his foot injury, it didnt seem to bother him too much when he ran from the left to the right and then back again to score his 2nd try on sunday.

am not blaming it all at the door of Ben Black, he just didnt do enough running too and [uALL[/u of the people i was stood with at the game agreed with what i was saying as well.

the full team tonight though never really turned up

Crikey MM, no one was putting sole blame on Black. It was just a bit strange how Black didn't even attempt to run it in.

Ok what I meant was, he didn't take advantages of his chances when they came to him. He's usually trying to constantly cut through the line.

you came onto this thread in a very noticable way. its not just me that is thinks that Black wasnt looking for the gaps tonight like he usually is.

we clearly have different views and we are never going to agree so lets just agree to dissagree and leave it at that

Playing behind avery very poor pack dosnt help him one little bit. We were weak in the pack last season and for me we are even weaker this season. Some of them players should be performing a lot better than they are.

Players like Gene and Aizue are bad buys.Branighan and Black took their tries well but overall fev where much better.Fax where lucky to get a bonus point and as a neutral i though black was average last night.Not poor though.

the good fev defence did not leave many gaps at all though.

Aizue and Gene just havnt performed but they are not the only ones. Ostick for me is a waste of space as well, might as well just have a tckle bag out there. Playing the team with the best pack in the league you think our pack may have stood up to be counted but instead they got owned.

Surely though, much better for Black to attempt to break the line than try and pull off some of those suicide passes?



Wouldn't say that at all. He ran with immense power last night, and even created basically the only chance of that first half when he burst through their line. Granted his defense wasn't great last night, but he wasn't the only one.

He runs with immense power every week. Unfortunatley he gets smashed nearly everytime he takes the ball in and gains very little yards doing it. Gives us no go forward whatsoever.

Big difference from weekend, we built pressure and a platform for blacky to work from, last night he had no room or space because of Fevs control of the ruck and speed of our play. I think we sometimes expect some of our players to deliver miracles. Same could be said of Branhigan, did he create much, no cos had no time and space. Whereas as Finn just coasted around outting easy passes in cos his pack had given him teh platform.

As for Ostick, hes had 2 cracking games v leigh and dewsbury. Last night he made couple of errors and gave few silly penalties. He's not going to burst thru loads of tackles, but i feel it generally hits line hard and gets up the quickest. In defence he comes up quick and tries to put the attacker. If you want to be picky then compare him to Maloney he also runs hard, BUT he's often held up, wrestled, and results in slower play the balls, and I dont think he evers dominates the tackle in defence.
