First off hello Fax fans! Ended up at your gaffe for the day today and had a really good time. I thought the turnout for the Siddal game was impressive all around and the Siddal lads gave a very good account of themselves and rightly were given great support from the locals and also Widnes support who gave them a well earned applause and support during the game.

Which leads me onto the title of the thread, what on earth was that all about with your fans and the Lock Lane lads? Nothing short of embarrassing at times. We met some cracking people in and around the ground and had a good few chats but some of the vile spilled out to an un-paid amateur side not even in the top division was appalling. 'who are ya?' Seriously? Come on! 70 - 06 up and calling the Ref a 'crook' and all and sunder, yes he may have let the odd thing go a little but FFS your playing an amateur side who want to enjoy their big game and never give up.

The players weren't much better either (ok if my side may have seen the funny side so maybe getting a bit carried away) but passing a ball in the in goal area? White throwing the ball at players etc? Embarrassing for a guy who gets paid for his job! And people wondered why they put a few high shots in the end? Fax played the usual good flowing stuff which was good to watch and the likes of Fairbank seemed to enjoy a good run out too enjoyed going to see a bit of your game as may as well make the most of it eh.

As I say had a cracking day, enjoyed the atmosphere, full credit to the Siddal lads and good speaking with a lot of you Fax supporters but the one's giving the local amateurs a barrel full really IMO need to take a look at themselves and get a sense of perspective surely?

I did wonder why their players seemed to be targeting Nash. He took quite a few cheap shots.
And I must be honest at the end someone who is a regular poster on this forun, felt it necessary to continually shout "spineless" at the referee after the final whistle. I did ask him what he was talking about. I'm sure his little boy he had with him will grow up into an equally sporting person.
Whoever it was they will read this and perhaps try to explain.

The Lock Lane guys did hand out a fair number of high shots throughout, and for a good part of the game were lying on for far too long (it became somewhat comical to watch the ref asking Fax players to get up when they still had players holding them down). That said, the Fax players could have acted a little more professionally at times, although I do have to say that Dylan kept his cool remarkedly well given some of the treatment he received.

White "passing" the ball to one of the LL players (it wasn't thrown at him) was perhaps something to do with the tackling technique administered as he was in the act of scoring a try?

Anyway, we played Loughborough Uni last year in the same round, and they were applauded off the pitch after a very similar scoreline...........

Lastly, no refs are cheats or crooks, they have good and bad games just like the players.

I take it you were on about the numpties at the back of the South Stand? If so, they are teenagers that need to stay off the singing syrup. Please feel free to complain to the stadium stewards.

Nash came in for some particular attention early doors and stupidly reacted. You might say could you blame him, but CLL set out to rile him and it worked. Paul White came in for some particular stick from their no.13 several times. So much so, that it was remarked upon by several people sat around me, and the CLL no.13 should have gone from the field to cool down a sight lot earlier than he did after nearly taking off Holroyd's head. Having said that, Fax were no angels at times, either.

It was good to speak to some Widnes fans after the game, and nice to see Paul Cullen stand up and applaud Siddal as they left the field.

The Paul White "incident" where he passed the ball to the LL No 13 after the try came about because the LL No 13 threw the ball away after a scrum was awarded to Fax, and when Whitey asked him for the ball the guy threw the ball away over the touchline. Very sporting of the LL guy but of course he's an Amatuer so it doesn't matter.

A bit like the numerous high shots when the Fax players side stepped - "it's alright he's only an Amateur". Well I was an Amateur RL player once upon a time and it does not make it right, so it's about time some Amatuer teams grew up (and some "nuetral Fans"icon_wink.gif who perhaps should investigate the full picture before commenting.

By the way did Siddal put so many high shots in and manage to slow the play the ball down so much?

My mistake, I thought a reaction to the tackle. Regardless, there was no venom in the incident, just an element of petulance.

Correct! One of us was talking about his old man with a Fax fan so looked to see how he got on and seemed to get stuck in and look for the ball. Holyrood seemed to control a lot of the game too. As you'd expect you to be really but did open a few big holes up.

Aye tbh that stand does echo nicely. Just a completely different atmosphere to the first game really so seemed a bit surreal. Nothing to complain about seemed to keep it clean

didnt think it looked good on us when white passed the ball to beswick over the line, just put it down and get done with it dont mess about being cocky cos you're playing a low league team.

Yer okay maybe a bit of an over reaction by us at times BUT the Ref gave a try that blatantly was not, he allowed constant slowing the play the ball down by the Lock Lane lads, can't blame them you would if you can get away with it and the high shots just kept coming and like others have put this is all okay because they are amateurs???
I wonder if York had a Ref with the same attitude today, I very much doubt it.

The thing is it is not up to the Ref to balance things this is a professional game, players need protection and we did not get it today, oh and the Rob Worrincy try that was disallowed by the linesman when it was the LL player who hit the flag.
