As was I and we played 747896564959342567 times better rugby than we do now and we lost 20 odd games on the trot!
We played better Rugby under Faz and that's saying something!
I've been absent from here as I have from games for a while because I have become so disillusioned with the way we are playing and not interested at all in going to watch. If the people running the club honestly think people will continue to pay at least £15 to watch boring, predictable, soulless rugby at home and travel away to be served up more of the same then they are naive at best. There are a lot of loyal folk who are involved with the club as well as those that watch them who deserve much better but are frankly being ripped off by Harrison and his tactics this year (and last year if I'm being brutally honest).
This year is absolutely critical in terms of what kind of club Fax want to be in the future shake up of the game. Do we want to be challenging the best and return to our former glories or do we want to be also-rans? Miss out of the top two and we miss out on a massive chunk of cash ,which, if you want to believe the rumour stirrers we desperately need. To be honest, the way our crowds are dipping and have indeed dipped since the current regime have been in charge, the rumours might not be too far off the mark. People talked about the strength of Martin Hall and his recruiting, his major strength was the brand of rugby he, then later Calland implemented. Who would want to come play for Fax the way we are playing now? Not ones that can improve our team that's for sure, plus how long will the decent players we have want to stick around? Outsiders/neutrals will look at the table and think we are dong alright, it flattens us massively.
I may come across as being a bit doom and gloom and slightly unqualified as I haven't been to a game for 2 months, but I'm coming from going to pretty much every game throughout the country from the mid 1990s to last Summer when I started to get bored. I went to EVERY game in 2003 and I enjoyed those games infinitely more than I have the last 18 months. I went to near enough every game through the TA and Faz regime where people called for Faz's head for so called 'boring' rugby, it was a hell of a lot more enjoyable than what we've been served up recently. I don't even need to begin to talk about the Calland era as it's so blatantly obvious.
I've never in my life called for a Fax coach to go but I fear change needs to happen sooner rather than later.
