On the subject of Mr Laughton, submitted the following email to the RFL on 29th April 2010:
Dear Sir/Madam, Having witnessed the Whitehaven vs Halifax game on Sunday 25th April 2010 I'd like to lodge a complaint regarding the standard of refereeing.
Mr Laughton totally lost control of the game and failed to send off Whitehaven player Marc Jackson when he had repeatedly punched a Halifax player being held on the ground just prior to half time. A sin binning was clearly insufficient given the scale of the blatant attack on the player.
Having witnessed Mr Laughton's previous performances I feel his competency to referee at Championship level has to be called into question.
I've been informed that the RFL review the videos of all games and would ask that Mr Laughton's performance be reviewed using the video evidence. There were numerous decisions during the game where I feel poor decisions were made.
A topic on his performances is shown on the RL Fans forum.

I feel this gives a balanced view from a number of fans regarding the standard of Mr Laughton's performances. I accept that the job is not easy, but a fair competent referee is expected by fans paying hard earned money to watch Rugby League.
Your reply and thoughts would be very much appreciated.
Kind Regards
Mr xxxxx
