Its on Radio Leeds every day at 2pm, One to One with Liz Green, excellent stuff - if you look on iPlayer you should be able to search for Radio Leeds, the doctor was Kate Granger, the olympian Paul Cartwright, both are still on there but I think they only keep them for three days.

Not only that, but =#FFFFFFyou'd think that the terrorist, having groomed his suicide bomber for eight years, wouldn't be particularly happy about him deciding not to follow through on his mission. The whole "I can influence policy from the inside" bit was just ridiculous.

All I've since learned from the US version is that for some birds, the idea of freshening up for a date is a quick wipe around the minge with a damp flannel - and that was in the very first episode.

The Israeli version has received good critique but it surely can't be any more of a let down than the US version

It had its moments. Some of the build up was ok (though there were a few holes), but the ending was hugely disappointing.

True. I think they just thought "how do we set this up for a second series"

And the most awful part of that was seeing the child come back to GOS after the treatment in America and the doctors reaction to his first sight at the poor girl, the shock on his face when told of her sodium levels straight after the first round of therapy was horrific, basically she had been severely poisoned by a commercial organisation masquerading as a hospital, for cash - was it only me who shook their head and thought "Well fook me there's a surprise" when the family were informed that their child had been accepted by the private organisation as "suitable for treatment" after they'd extracted £20,000 from the family for an "assessment", was there ever a chance that the organisation would take the £20k, do the "assessment", and then tell the family, "No I don't think she'll benefit from a further £80,000 worth of our so-called treatment that no-one else in the world will acknowledge as a valid treatment for this condition".

Fookin charlatans extracting hard cash from vulnerable families while the NHS's top consultants stand by helplessly and pick up the mess afterwards.

They should strap Cameron and Lansley to a chair and force them to watch this episode, several times, and then ask them to answer the question in all truth, "Is this the vision of healthcare that you are leading us all to ?"

Exactly McF....Shame the mother wouldn't listen to the GOS specialist. She was desperate and I suppose understandably so, but the answer wasn't dragging the poor child across the Atlantic and then being financially bum-raped. How much would the various fund-raisers have secured in donations if they'd been privy to the GOS doctors opinion?

Its probably the wrong thread to go off on one about the politics of the health service, so sticking to the thread title, its really powerful TV is this sort of stuff, the sort of TV that could actually influence political opinion, if only the politicians in charge at the moment could actually stop for one minute to watch, and then engage brain.

And then this morning I walked into the living room to find my youngest watching every On Demand episode of Geordie Shore, I nearly phoned the NSPCC and handed myself in for being such an abject failure at parenting.

Awake and Alcatraz have both been canned after just one season.

I saw the pilot of Awake and thought it was really good but the viewing figures in the US nosedived so a second season was looking unlikely.

No doubt both will finish without any clear endings or answers in the same way Flash Forward and The Event did.

Shame about Alcatraz, but I suppose a show like that has a fairly short shelf life given that every episode has the same basic plot.

That's the problem with that type of 'monster of the week' shows. Unless your background season long arc is good and is able to sustain interest, then viewers won't invest.
