Saw them fall apart at Reading and I doubt they will be any better this time around after listening to some of Ian Brown's stuff.
Mind that won't stop me punting some tickets

The cult status is down to their being adopted by a particular scene in a year when massive amounts of drugs were consumed and the music scene in this country was turning upside down.

Never really understood this myself either.
I remember reading a thread on another site a few years ago that was about one of those "best ever" lists that Q magazine punt out every year or so. You can generally predict what the "best ever" is going to be by figuring out what came out when people who are currently in their early 30s were turning 20. At the time The Stone Roses were top and, on this site mostly populated by Americans, the people who had even heard of it were massively outnumbered by those who hadn't. Not at all true for Joy Division, The Smiths or many other classic British indie bands.
They rode a wave at a seminal point in British musical history, but are otherwise completely of their time and place. They might as well be a Clone Roses cover band.

| Hey, I'm 22 and it certainly excites me. My dad and his mates loved the Roses, Cast et al. It's the music I grew up listening to and the only kind of music for me.
I'm fully aware it won't be a level of performance circa 1989, but it's still something I've always wanted to experience.

ROFL!!!!!!
The Who, The Specials, The Clash.... all much better debuts than that plodding piece of poo, and I'm sure those with wider musical backgrounds than mine could add a dozen more without much struggling.

I think I can handle the two minute walk from front door to venue.
The big scam for the Oasis gigs was taxi drivers charging people obscene money going back to town (£50+ for what is usually £10 tops) . Hopefully they will have learned lessons from the transport arrangements from those gigs.

I'd say that the worst thing about the Oasis gig at Heaton Park was the park and ride. Trying to get on the bus with the rest of the people I was with was a nightmare, being squashed into the bus whilst security told me "not to touch the bus". Then the much longer journey to the car park and trying to get off the car park then is a nightmare.
It's alright if the gig was a good'un though.

Thank you for agreeing with me, and confirming my suggestion that the list of better debuts could be expanded!

Bring it on... I'll be a breathless, sweaty, ho (not horse..) mess come throwing out time. Shame I'm driving or I'd be a popped up, breathless, sweaty, ho mess.
Can't have it all.

| Mate at work just been on phone trying to get Stone Roses tickets - putting card details in after finally getting through, and the website says - "SOLD OUT".
Less than half an hour after going on sale.

| I've got a confirmation number from ticketline for my 4 for Friday but I'm a bit worried if it's a cock up with people saying the first 2 days sold in 14 minutes.
I managed to get these after about an hour at 10.30am.
Won't be best pleased if it is and I could have kept trying for Sunday.
Fingers crossed.

| I was also at the Manchester City and Colour date and really enjoyed it. I thought it was on par with the last time I saw him at the Brudenell Social Club a few years ago. He has really embraced the live band aspect and some of the interpretations of the older songs with the full band sound fantastic. Stand out tracks for me were Sorrowing Man and Sometimes (I Wish). The only negative was the amount of s who were ed up near the back of the room.

| It seems its just me who can't get excited about the Stone Roses gigs, I like them and as a band I think they were influential but to me this and every other reunion tours that these bands do seem really contrived and clearly all about the money to them. I remember seeing The Verve a few years back when they reformed at Blackpool and they were just going through the motions, I feel this will be the same.
I've also seen Ian Brown a few times and his singing was so terrible I don't think Id pay to see him 'sing' live again.

| At the end of the day, everyone knows Brown is notoriously crap live but it's not just about him is it. Mani is still well in practice, the interested things will be if Reni and Squire can still cut the mustard.

| True, its not all about him but it is hard to get past a lead singer who sings in a different key to the rest of the band!

| Two tickets are going for £2000 on Ebay pretty consistantly at the minute. I love the band, I want to go, but if they're going for that price I will sell and clear my student overdraft!

Really, really cannot see that being a genuine bid. Nor the £10,000 or £50,000. IF you had that kind of money, you would be able to get VIP access with ease.
Kind of spoils the auction for the seller and someone who could have bought them.

Looks like a mickey take. 37 mins to go and the top bid is £10 million.
Edit - daft bids cleared out - now £2050. Still a ridiculous amount
2nd edit - now £132.00

| I'll admit I couldn't care less about the stone roses or this reunion. Im not saying i don't like them, i've never listened to them in the first place.. I cant help that think at around 60 quid a ticket that they are just taking advantage. But i spose if people think its worth 60 quid a pop to see a band who havent played together for god knows how many years... and are known for being crap live to begin with... then thats their own choice.

Out of interest how much would a ticket for a Britney Spears concert cost these days?
For me i expected tickets to be a lot more than £55.
Got one for the Friday and just can't wait!
