Updated my Desire a while ago, never had any issues

So, the HTC Desire HD.

Amazing phone. In terms of functionality, it does all that the iPhone does but throws in flash compatibility and extendable memory.

Godawful battery, though. Really, really bad.

At least one charge per day, sometimes more if in heavy use. It'll be absolutely useless when I go camping and for that reason I've saved my "not quite as smart" phone rather than flog it.

Looking at upgrading to this. How "heavy" do you use your phone? I have an N97 at the minute and a full charge lasts me 8 days!
What's the phone like generally?

You have to charge the vast majority of smartphones once a day, they do way more that standard phones, though you can turn off what you are not using to save power.

Am loving the Desire Z but again battery life isn't the greatest. Hoepfully will improve after a couple more full charges and turning various updating things off.
Texting is easy on both the touchscreen and the slide out keyboard.

Did have an initial problem in that the phone didn't accept the supplied micro SD card but put a new one in and it's worked fine.

Anyone used the new Windows phone yet? I have an Android phone but due an upgrade in January. I'm struggling to decide between the desire HD and the new Windows offering.

Anybody updated their X10 to the latest software?

If you're meaning the HTC mozart then I've had this for nearly a month. I sold my Iphone 3G and got this as my upgrade. God do I regret not selling the mozart for 400 on ebay and keeping my iphone. Internet is slow, rubbish signal and hardly any Apps.

Look at the positives: you can “[url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IrIND6bkwk&feature=relatedget back to life[/url” because it doesn't do a lot compared to an Android phone or iPhone. That was the only thing Microsoft promised in their marketing and they delivered on it.

On a more serious note Microsoft have promised to push out their first software update early 2011 so if you stick with it then it will get better.

Nah, branded phones are updated by the Telcos who move at the speed of a continent on updating stuff.

They must work in close conjunction the networks though? And is there a rule stopping Sony Ericsson putting the update out to download over WiFi from a public website thus bypassing the carrier?

I guess it is because the networks have paid the subsidy and he who pays the piper calls the tune.

The update would need to be simlocked to the carriers mate, also they would need to test it with their setup, in other words load it with their bloat.

Best way I've found is buy through Carphone Warehouse, the vast majority of their phones are unbranded and unlocked.

Nah, the Xperia update can indeed be downloaded from the SE website whatever network you are on.

My other half is locked to Orange on a contract phone and I updated her's to the latest update yesterday. I used the SE PC companion and followed the walkthrough on there. All very simple to do and it doesn't lose any network settings so it's ready to go once updated and the content restored.

Is it any good? My Curve is beginning to give up the ghost and I really like the look of it. However I'm 8 months from a free upgrade so was wondering if it was worth shelling out £300+ for?

If your phone is breaking within it's contract, just go back to the place you got it from and say you are not happy with it and don't think it was fit for purpose. I'd be very surprised if they let you leave without fixing, replacing or allowing you to upgrade it.

No phone is ever worth paying money for when they can be received for free. For some reason I seem to have you down as one of RLFANS more financially well off people, but that kind of money being spent for a mobile phone that will last a year makes me feel sick.

I've just got a Blackberry.

Does anyone know if porting the number from my current pay as you go Sony Ericcson will cause any problems? I've heard conflicting things.

Have Apple got some major improvements lined up for it? I remember when the 1st Iphone came out. I was ridiculously impressed. Can't help but think they have got a little stale though. I have little to no desire to get an Iphone upon my next renewal. Pushing video calls as a major offering for your phone seems a little 2006 for my liking, at least back then you could do them anywhere.

I can't see myself getting an iPhone. What do they do that their main rivals dont? A phone would have to be bloody impressive for me to pay out a few hundred quid alongside a long contract!

Gonna wait till my upgrade to get a Torch and bought a spare Curve instead.

Can I transfer all my BB messenger contacts from my old Curve to my new Curve?

Pissed of with my blackberry bold, looking at getting the htc desire as the reviews on it are excellent.

If BB messenger is anything like Microsoft messenger I would imagine just signing into it from the new BB would be enough?

If you use the BB desktop software you can transfer everything over in one easy process.

Best phone I've ever bought, however, as with all Smart Phones, battery is terrible. I haven't recalibrated mine yet but i have been advised it works wonders

Due an upgrade in about 6 months, wouldn't mind another Ericsson (had four so far so guess am used to them really) any recommendations, or would people suggest moving on to a new make?
