| Ok, I gave in and bought a HTC Desire yesterday, however, it is locked to TMobile. I've checked a few websites and it does seem possible to unlock it to all networks using a code paid for on said websites.
Anyone ever done this? did it work?

Email obviously. I have one with work and it does handle email very well. The battery life is absolutely brilliant compared to what a normal mobile would do with push email on constantly.
I have no idea why someone who doesn't need one for work would want one. There is no bling with a Blackberry.

Exactly, 90% of my mates have one. I tell them to be different, if they dont want the HTC go for a Samsung Galaxy S. But no, get a Blackberry, cos they're cool. ![SNOOTY eusa_snooty.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//eusa_snooty.gif)

| Hi,
I read these message boards but half the time i have no idea what you talking about, but i'm having a problem with my nokia x6 and was wondering if anyone out there can help.
For some reason i am unable to connect my mobile to my laptop via the USB cable. I have removed every folder from my computer and reinstalled nokia PC suite but i'm still haveing the same problem. Dose anyone know what the problem could be? Before you say anything silly - i know i should of got a better phone.
I thank you for any help in advance.

I am (North Manc), it's fine at the moment but last week the signal all but vanished for a day...very odd. It was also the day they announced Orange and T-Mobile were to share networks and I thought for a moment Orange had handed my area over to T-Mobile, who I used to be with and moved due to a terrible signal. Apparently the 'share' isn't happening until 2011 though.
On another note and harking back to my posts a few weeks ago - my gorgeous HTC Desire continues to dazzle me, and the battery life has actually improved: even with fairly heavy use I only need to charge every few days. Just make sure to run it right down for the first few weeks before plugging in.

| Funny you guys mention HTC and T-Mobile - had to wipe my phone entirely earlier today after only a month (Wildfire model) as it wouldn't connect to the internet on my phone - could make calls fine but any app's that involved GPS or location tracking etc. or going online completely went, Last FM, Market etc.
Very strange - sorted now mind.

| HTC have just announced the desire HD. Looks to be an awesome phone. I think it's out in the next few weeks and will be a Vodafone exclusive for 2 months.
If your contract is almost up for renewal and you are looking at a smartphone then I would recommend taking a look at it. The last few HTC phones have been very good and the Android OS is excellent.

The love of a good woman??
Ok...to be honest it's hard to say what's done it. I've got Advanced Task Killer installed, but the wallpaper seems to make a difference. I had an gorgeous animated swirling galaxy but switched to an animated fireworks one recently and my battery life has improved further. Any pointless apps have been uninstalled.
I think the main thing is making sure you charge fully without using the first time (takes several hours), and then draining the battery completely before charging for the first few weeks.

Correct it doesn't support Flash, in fact most smart phones don't support full Flash*. It's far from a must have feature and in fact full flash has only really been available on a small number of the very high end Android devices since this Summer.
Most websites which use Flash have a HTML alternative. Games are a bit of a different story, but Windows Phone will have some impressive titles. Most video on the web is served up in straight H.264 for mobile devices which need it. And increasingly "flash" video is just H.264 served up with a flash wrapper around it.
IE on Windows Phone 7 is based on IE 7 engine, which although it needs an update isn't that bad in terms of standards support (although no where near as good as 8 and 9). Maybe I'm wrong and Flash will be a vital component of the web in a few years, but it's getting harder and harder to make a case. Long term no one is really committed to the technology aside from Adobe (who of course have an awful lot to gain if the Flash runtime becomes the sort of de-facto middleware for a variety of mobile devices).
I'm not on any sort of anti-Flash bandwagon, I just trying to be pragmatic.
* [size=85[url=http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9180112/RIM_Adobe_still_hope_to_add_Flash_support_to_BlackBerry_devicesRIM, Adobe still hope to add Flash support to BlackBerry devices[/url: "What's really important... is to get it right. Flash and Flash video have very specific hardware, CPU and memory requirements,". [[iWhich is code for Flash has gargantuan hardware requirements[/i.

Adobe itself hasn't commented on the state of the webOS version or of other platforms. [[ii.e. no time soon[/i[/size

I'll hazard a guess that unlike a competing companies phone, you will be able to install Opera right out of the box and Firefox if and when they develop for it.
