Finished up with a HTC Wildfire and so far the battery life is surprisingly good. Possibly due to slower processor and smaller screen. I have been using an app called Advance Task Killer to shut unwanted stuff down and am only turning on 3G and WiFi when I want sync stuff - I don't need stuff pushing at me every few minutes.

in regard the wildfire it appears that it doesn't have access to similar apps the the legend etc can access like swype and a few games, is there a reason for this?

The resolution of the screen may be one reason it can't run some apps. It is at the low end for Android devices.

My ancient Cybershot broke on Friday night so went to the Orange Shop yesterday and changed from a SIM only contract to a full contract and got myself a Samsung Monte, which I really like. Hated the Sony Ericsson phone I had, only got that because my last phone broke and had the opportunity to buy that one off a friend for cheap. Had a Samsung before that and found it to be a great phone.

I'm only going to be using it for texting and calling, taking pictures (has a 3.2mp camera), + general features such as the alarm clock, calculator, listening to music and such like so didn't really need an internet sapping superphone. You can access widgets and the like on it such as Facebook, Twitter and all sorts of other stuff. More than happy with this though, thoroughly recommended to anyone that wants a similar sort of phone, wants a contract with a free phone and to only pay around £15 a month.

Indeed, apps like Swype because of what they do, need a big screen area to work with.

anyone else got a dell streak. I absolutely love mine. fantastic as a web surfing/app device and does a reasonable job as a phone too

This has been a problem, as the Facebook people have not been giving proper attention to the Android app (Whether this is to do with the Google/facebook issues i would not like to say)

There have been some improvements with the app of late, but the notifications still seem to be a problem.

I've updated mine on the Galaxy S recently and it seems to be worse than ever. There's hardly ever any notifications, it's slower than before the update and absolutely kills the battery if it's left on in the background. Add that to the fact that whenever you try and look at anything it re-directs you to a web page rather than opening within the application itself, there's a lot that needs ironing out.

Aye, i went to the Market and downloaded the facebook app. Seems it has been updated but i never get any notifications really. It said i had 1 last night when the likes of LFCRhino & Swarcliffe Rhino had posted on my status. I had 6 comments on there and only 1 came up.

DESMONDO — Instead of the Blackberry 8250, I'd go for the new model released this month as it has 3G, GPS, better battery life and will be upgraded to Blackberry 6 at some stage.

htc Touch Diamond – My thoughts.

I’m about 12 months into an 18 month contract with this phone and TBH I’m counting the days until I can get rid of the POS.

Features:

Frequently the sound stops functioning and demands a reboot.
Occasionally it will ring the last number dialled, on its own – not while it’s in your pocket and the redial has been accidentally hit but when it is sat on in kitchen, on its own and will constantly redial the same number.
The screen orientation is poor and will often switch from portrait to landscape without moving the phone.
The battery life is poor – less than a day with average use. I have taken to carrying a spare battery in my wallet as it often catches me out.
Approximately 1 in 4 calls you can’t answer – you hit the answer button but it doesn’t register and the call rings off.
The signal reception is poor, my missus is on the same network and often I have to use her phone as the htc has no signal.
The camera is poor and sending pictures can be difficult.
The phonebook is based on Outlook Contacts which means it wont transfer your number easily to a ‘normal’ phone book structure.
The touch screen is heavy and unresponsive and you will have to use the stylus as your finger won’t be anywhere near accurate enough.
A lot of the apps you download for it don’t work that well.
I have Tom Tom on mine and it can take up to 5 minutes for the GPS to locate a signal.
You can’t use standard 3.5 jack headphones on it.

On the up side it looks nice.

Got this myself, its an alright phone. You don't pay a BB fee.
I'd go for a higher model if your wanting a blackberry personally. Don't expect much in the way of apps either.

I have both the Facebook app and it bookmarked on my internet. I never use the app now and mayaswell delete it, it's so easier to use it though the web and I doubt it takes any more memory tbh.

iv got a BB9700 bold thru O2. Its a much better complete phone compared to the BB8250 and not had any problems and its 10times better than the Storm2.

The only thing O2 insists you purchase is the Blackberry bolt on i think its £7.50 per month. Rather than there standerd net package. Although ask for any deals, i got my net package all thrown in and cash back off my bills.

I got free BB9700 phone, 300mins talk time to any mobile/landline, unlimited text and unlimited internet for £25per month back in april plus £180 cash back which was credited to my account after the 2nd month, and had no bills since as im still in credit. plus the BB bluetooth visor kit as part of my upgrade. Had to do my homework tho and do a bit of blagging!

Yeah, but it does take longer on the phone to keep updated. Also, why aren't i logged in everytime i use the app then click on a notification? Its annoying when trying to keep up to date.

Oh and dont be a sheep and get a blackberry. Be different
