Whacked right up and with a 4 second exposure is about the max you'd get out of it.

| Compact Flash cards -
Just got myself a nice new 7D but the only downside is at 22mb a pop
the old CF cards don't last too long, an old 1GB card filled in a minute!
I normally use Sandisk but can't find a reliable suppler with a decent price,
anyone use Lexar cards or recommend a decent 8GB alternative.

I've got 3 Lexar cards, one 8GB and two 16GB and not had any issues at all, the latter one's are used for Go Pro Hero HD2 and the record speeds are as smooth as anything.

| Looking for some buying advice please.
I want a decent camera to take travelling. I'm quite interested in photography (as in I like looking at photos) but know nothing about it.
Main thing is it needs to be easily portable and fairly small, so can't be doing with big, multiple lenses.
I'd like something better than the average point and shoot from Comet but only have a budget of around £350.00, could stretch it if necessary.
Are there any cameras that have a one lens suits all to take decent scenic photos as well as close of ups of people etc?
Any models/manufacturers you'd recommend?
I've done a bit of reading about and a Compact System Camera seems to be mid way between a standard digital and a DSLR, which I think is what I'm looking for?
Apologies for the lack of jargon, I did say I know nothing about this!

Any of the so called "bridge" cameras (or "superzoom"icon_wink.gif will do. Most makers make them, such as Canon, Fuji, Nikon etc. Personally I have a Fuji HS10, which is a couple of years old now, and is superceded by a couple of later models like HS20 and I think the current is HS30. Canon's SX40 looks to be similar etc.
All of these are a step up from the compact, pocket-sized cameras, with a single lens that gives a good zoom range from landscape to close up.
Both of the above are listed on amazon for a touch over £300, and I would expect similar models from other makers would be similarly priced.

Have you considered an adapter so that you can use SDHC?

| I have a Nikon D5000 with a 18-55mm and 55-200mm lens, but am looking to get rid of both of these and change to a 28-300mm lens - basically cos i can't be bothered wasting time changing lenses each time i need to take a different shot.
Any recommendations on a quality lens that won't cost the earth?
Also, is it best to get the other 2 lenses on ebay to get the best price for them rather than trade them in to a camera shop??

They are a pile of c r a p and don't work properly at high speed shooting also those tiny cards are real easy to lose. A decent high speed CF card is more than a match for a SDHC.

Wouldn't know, got one with my camera but haven't used it. Just use the CF card I have plus a CF min HD, both of which are fine for my purposes, but then I don't do any high speed stuff with that camera.
There are a number of CF cards on the 7dayshop site though and they quote all the specs. Looks to be a decent one around £40, or the dog's:

£150, or £85 for a 16Gb version. Any good?

That was basically what I was asking lol
Also far too many fake Sandisk cards around for my liking.
Grabbed a couple of Lexar cards which seem to fit the bill nicely, might try some Trancend ones too seen as the Mrs has claimed my 400D and can fill a card in minutes.

I got quite excited when Compact System Cameras came out.
Now I'm less keen.
The "compactness" seems a bit overstated to me, you'd still need the same bagful of kit that you'd take with a DSLR, albeit slightly smaller.
There are some genuine compacts out there with image quality that the magazines rave about, with prices to match, mind.
Canon S95 comes to mind and, because the zoom is fairly limited, it fits in your pocket.

Where did you get them from and what spec? I buy cards reasonably regular and have stuck with 7dayshop as so far as I know it's all legit kit but if you have a kosher supplier who can beat their prices...

Lexars don't seem to be widely faked which helps but I got mine from the PC World clearance store on eBay.

| Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've been offered the above lens for £100, second hand but only been used a handful of times by a workmate of my husband's. Looking on eBay that would seem a pretty good price.
I'm not familiar with the lens so can anyone tell me anything about it please, what's it best used for. Already have at my disposal 55-250 and 70-300 aswell as kit lens, would this be a useful addition to my kit?
Thanks for any info.
