And the debacle over the new social care bill, looks looks the new poll tax, with those with cheaper properties liable for just the same amount as multi millionaires - levelling up ??
True colours coming to the fore and stuff those up North.

| The fact that so many in the North switched their vote to the Tories, with Johnson as leader, because they believed his promises….. well I’ll go to my grave and still never work that one out.
Not as if he didn’t have form for breaking promises to wives, mistresses, bosses, constituents etc …- why did you lot think you were a special case where he’d actually keep a promise??

| I don't think it had anything to do with Johnson. It was because of Brexit. Something like 75% of Labour marginals voted to leave in 2016, so it was political suicide for Labour to try and push for another referendum in 2019.

Spot on.
Corbyn sat on the fence and pretty much kept quiet on the whole Brexit issue, apart from expressing concerns on workers rights but, he was no fan of the EU, which gave "vote leave" a free run against an already unpopular PM (Cameron) and leave certainly ran the better campaign, albeit riddled with lies and false claims, many of which are being seen for what they were but, alas it's too late and N. Ireland has been right royally shafted and we are left with a joke PM "leading" the country.
We'd be better off with Pepper Pig in charge.

Amazing what's just been voted through and not a single bit of news reporting from the totally at-heel BBC. This isn't what people voted for, isn't what the Tories ran on. It's quite shameless really.

In the same way it does in the US, perhaps (i.e. not really). There are substantial demographic issues that any party would face, but yes I honestly believe it’d be better under an government that wants to make public provision for universal healthcare based on need and free at the point of delivery, as far as is going to be feasible.
Quote ="chissitt"They will if they are all lorry drivers.'"
But that is unlikely, innit? And in a few years those and a lot of other jobs seem likely to be lost to automation. That’s progress, but who shares in its benefits? Under the Tories my expectation is that a small number of people will benefit a great deal, with the outlook being bleaker for a much greater number.
Quote ="chissitt"I'm quite shocked and surprised it's only the Tories that have a second job

It is massively disproportionately Tories. For example, among MPs who have worked as consultants in the last year, 30 are Conservatives, 1 is Labour and 1 is a Lib Dem. Even making allowances for there being more Tory MPs and their’s being the party in power, that is a big difference. Tbh, I don’t have a huge problem with second jobs per se. But they shouldn’t be selling access and influence.

The unions represent labour. Influence might cause a Labour government to enact pro-worker legislation (tbh this stuff is so popular with the public it wouldn't need access or bribe).
The Tories are funded by hugely wealthy individuals who they are stuffing billions of pounds of government contracts to.
Even the most one-eyed could see a difference. Nice attempt at whatabouttery though.

| I didn’t see many Unions being granted PPE contracts via the government fast track for friends or by any means actually. To donate to the Labour Party a union member must actually agree to do so.
