Did anyone see Mesrine Killer instinct on FX. ( second part this weekend) Mesrine started as a young soldier in Algeria and basically ended up in a torture unit. Leaves the army and joins up with some gangsters in paris in the late 50s early 60s.

Absolute psycho happy to rob or knock anyone off.

Goes to Quebec and joins the liberation front, robs and murders a lot of people escapes from prison. Then goes back to break out the other prisoners and offs five guards then heads back to France.
A true story about a french gangster who makes the Krays etc look like schoolboys.


Vincent Cassel plays Mesrine has to be one of the best actors around.

There are some belters to come though. Even now I've been adjusting because there were some films that I'd put in but need to be higher up. I first drafted the list earlier in the year and there's about ten films I've seen since then that would probably get in there and others that deserve a higher listing e.g. [iValhalla Rising[/i, but seeing as I drafted it up and uploaded stuff it would have been too much of a slog to overhaul the numberings by one place just to accommodate a film never mind ten lol.

On a bit of a 'wrongly accused' documentary binge at the moment. Watched The Thin Blue Line followed by Murder on a Sunday Morning. It's amazing just how incompetent some of the American law enforcement agencies can be shown to be in these pieces - it's quite tragic how people have been made scapegoats of simply because of people being lazy, incompetent and downright racist (in the latter case) when undertaking their duties. I had a lump in my throat at the end of Murder on a Sunday Morning and found it to be particularly emotional.

I have to say I would have had City of God in my top 10, it is a fantastic film.

Last year Fernando Meireilles was at the National Media Museum in Br*dford for a special screening of City of God at the Pictureville cinema there. I would have taken my DVD down there to get it signed, unfortunately it was on the same day I flew out to watch Keighley play in Toulouse.

Finally got round to watching 'Piranha' last night.....Absolute rubbish, but had the obvious bonus of Kelly Brook in minimal clothing for 80+ minutes....



More stressful ways of relieving 90 minutes.

Saw it about a year ago and absolutely loved it. The length of of the whole thing and subtitles might put a few people off? Cassel was absolutely brilliant in it.
