Under 19s v Wigan Under 19s -
Academy Phase 2
7:00pm at Victoria Park Arena.
Wigan had beaten Warrington 72-6 just a month earlier at
Orrell but Wigan got off to slow start this time round.
Tries from Declan Kay and Morgan Smith had Warrington 10-0
up early. Josh Woods try got Wigan back to 10-6 in the 20th
Minute but at half time the score was 12-6 with Harvey
Livett kicking a penalty for the home side.
Second half started the second half well though with
tries from Liam Marshall and Jake Shorrocks putting them
into a 18-12 lead. Warrington responded with a double of
their own and tries from Pat Moran and Jack Johnson put
them back up at 24-18.
Liam Marshall's second try on the hour brought the score
back to 24-22 but Shorrocks couldn't convert to level.
Declan Kay's try put Warrington into a 28-22 lead but the
failed conversion kept Wigan within a score. When Oliver
Gildart scored the next it was on for Wigan to earn at
least a draw but Shorrocks again missed the extras and that
proved costly with Warrington hanging on for a narrow 28-26
