Summary:l
Whilst league and cup chances had long been
gone, Wigan were playing in this league game to win the mini South West
Lancashire League trophy that in these days was competed for between Leigh,
Runcorn, St Helens, Warrington, Widnes and Wigan. The league results between
those clubs counted towards the trophy and Wigan led the way after they beat
Leigh here 17-5. Tries from Llew Treharne and Billy Hector helped Wigan into
an 8-2 half time lead and Wigan scored three tries second half, two for
Treharne to complete his hat-trick and one for Johnny Thomas, none of which
were converted. Leigh found a try which at one point made the score 14-5 but
Wigan never looked like letting this slip.
