Although Wigan had lost to Leigh on 4th March in this cup tie, the match had been declared void on March 17th, just one day before Leigh were due to play Halifax in Round 2, because Leigh had been found to have played an illegible player in the original tie. The match was ordered to be replayed at Wigan instead with Leigh forfeiting their part of the gate fees and paying their own expenses for the tie. The match was tight like the first game with neither side scoring before half time. Wigan were strong after the break and won the tie with a try from Arthur Trezise that was converted by Jack Mason. The fuss over this replayed tie wasn't over though. Leigh responded by accusing that Wigan had played an illegible player in the original tie on 4th March. Wigan were charged over that but it was also declared that the accusation wouldn't invalidate this replay result.
