With St Helens in the Second Division, they had to make up extra games against First Division sides for the minor South West Lancashire League. A game of two halves ensued with first a try from Syd Rees and then a Jim Leytham hat-trick helping Wigan into a 12-0 half time lead. After the break tries from Sam Rimmer and Billy Briers brought the lead down by halve but Wigan still won comfortably. Because no return fixture was played, this result would be worth double points to the South West Lancashire League Table.
