Summary:l
This would prove to be Wigan's final match at the
Prescott Street ground. They would leave to move to Springfield Park for the
following season before playing at Central Park from September 1902. Wigan
trailed 2-0 at half time but hadn't played that bad with three missed
penalty goal attempts from Joe Nelson. In the second half, Jack Brown had a
shot at goal which made it 2-2 before Nelson kicked one later for 4-2. The
match was only settled in the last minute when George Rigby scored a try
than Nelson converted to complete the 9-2 win. 3,000 attended this last
match at Prescott Street.
