Summary:l
Wigan, who had lost every match in the season so far,
were being visited by Cumbrian side Millom who's only win had come against
Wigan earlier in the season. The home side found the lead with Elijah
Prescott's break was finished off by Jack Blackburn for 3-0. Millom quickly
hit back with a drop goal from Buckett making it 3-2 but soon Wigan had a
second try when Tom Nicholson sent William Straughan over for 6-2. Millom
hit back again with a try from Austin making it 6-5 and that tight score
held until half time. In the second half it was Millom forcing the pressure
early but Wigan held out and got a third try up the other end from Charlie
Wood that made it 9-5. The relief of gaining that try was huge for Wigan and
they kicked on to get two more tries, both scored by Tom Nicholson. So Wigan
held out to finally win their first game of the season.
