Summary:l
Salford had stayed loyal to Rugby Union when the initial
breakaway happened in 1895 but joined the "Northern Union" in this
particular season. Before this visit of Wigan to their ground in New Barnes,
Salford hadn't yet won a match but they hammered Wigan to send them to their
third consecutive defeat in a game played in heavy rain.
