Wigan hadn't won any of their previous four away games
and this looked a difficult task to end that run at third in the table
Runcorn. Wigan found a first half lead with a Teddy Flowers try for 3-0,
whilst later in the half Runcorn pressed heavily but had a try disallowed by
the referee. After half time Frank Dixon increased Wigan's lead to 6-0 and
Runcorn had no response.
