32,000 turned out for the New Years Day battle between
Wigan and Huddersfield at Central Park. The visitors were hoping to complete
a double over Wigan having beaten them at Fartown in August. For a long
while it looked like they would go back with that feat having led 9-3 all
the way until the 72nd Minute. This despite also losing their Second Row
Forward Robson to a fractured leg late in the first half. Wigan though found
a try for 9-8 and then two further tries to complete a difficult victory.
