The end score looks like it was a comfortable Lancashire Cup progression for Wigan but they were actually given a great run for their money away at Salford. Luck shone on Wigan early with Salford missing two shots at goal after Wigan conceded scrum penalties. Wigan took the lead instead with good work between Ces Mountford and Johnny Alty eventually saw Ted Ward send Jack Hilton over for a try. A second try soon followed with Mountford the creator for Nat Silcock to score and it was now 8-0 to Wigan.. Salford then had a try ruled out for offside but did managed to score just before the interval with Aspinall's try being converted by Williams for a 8-5 at the half. Salford went on the attack early second half but Williams missed another goal attempt that would of brought them closer. The 8-5 half time score lasted all the way until the last ten minutes when Ted Ward scored. Ward converted for 13-5 and then a second for Hilton completed the win at 18-5.
