Summary:l |
Wigan were on a quest for not only a third consecutive
league title but also a league and cup double. Bradford though had other
ideas and ended hopes of both in emphatic style in the Play Off Semi Final
at Central Park. Wigan wasted three early opportunities and that set the
tone with Bradford counter attacking to go close themselves soon after. They
didn't take their first chance soon took others with both Alan Edwards and
Ernie Ward scoring to put them in complete control at 10-0 with Ward
converting both tries. Wigan did find a try back from Johnny Lawrenson in
the second half but just couldn't claw back any more. Trevor Foster then
crossed to seal the Wigan fate in a 15-3 loss. It was now Bradford dreaming
of a double because these sides would meet again in the cup final a week
later at Wembley. |
