Swinton shocked Wigan early with a try but it ended up
being chalked off for offside. Johnny Lawrenson soon put Wigan 3-0 up with
Ted Ward adding a penalty for 5-0. Morgan kicked a goal back for Swinton but
George Banks scored a second Wigan try to make it 8-2 at half time. In the
second half Wigan lost Brian Nordgren with an injured shoulder but still
Swinton couldn't break the Wigan defence. Despite being a man down, Wigan
found a third try from Les White to wrap up the win.
