A quirk of fate saw a replay of the previous weeks cup
tie in the league for a second time, after the same thing had happened the
round before against Castleford. This time Wigan beat Leeds even more
convincingly than they had done in the cup. Ted Ward also took his goals in
the season tally over 100 in this match. Only Jim Sullivan had previously
achieved that for Wigan, though mind you he had achieved that feat 18 times
in consecutive seasons between 1922 and 1939.
