Summary:l |
Leeds had knocked Wigan out the Challenge Cup at Central
Park the previous season but their was to be no repeat this time. 39,000
turned out at Central Park for the match and it was a tight affair early on
with just two penalty goals from Ted Ward having Wigan 4-0 up by half time.
In the second half though, Wigan found the going easier with three tries
seeing Leeds off. First, fantastic play from Martin Ryan saw Bill Hudson go
close before Les White finished. Then an Ernie Ashcroft interception was
finished by Ted Ward. This was soon followed by a great run from Tommy
Bradshaw that saw him combine with Billy Blan before Frank Barton finished
the move. Leeds found one consolation try but they were well beaten. |
