Wigan were playing Widnes for the second weekend in a
row. This one at Naughton Park was a contest with a significant wind
advantage and in Widnes favour first half they built up a 7-0 lead by half
time. Wigan quickly reduced that early second half with two penalty goals
from Ted Ward but Gordon Ratcliffe's equalising try only came in the 73rd
Minute. Ward couldn't kick Wigan ahead and they blew a big chance late on
with Tommy Bradshaw's pass flying over Ratcliffe into touch. In the end
though, this wasn't a bad point from 7-0 down, especially because chasing
Warrington drew 5-5 also away at Leeds.
