The first Saturday of the new year saw Wigan embarking on
an always difficult trip to play Leeds at Headingley. It proved a tough
battle with Wigan trailing 5-2, 7-5 and 9-7 at times during the game but
Wigan managed to claw into an 11-9 lead and it was them that looked more
likely to increase it late on rather than Leeds finding a levelling goal or
winning try. It was a big win with all the other top six sides winning also.
34,000 attended the match.
