Summary:l

Third against Fourth at Wilderspool with both sides trying to respond after losing their games the previous weekend. Warrington went to great expense to ensure the match beat the frost but were rewarded by a 30,000 attendance. Wigan were gifted the lead when a lose pass by Warrington fell into the in goal and Jackie Cunliffe "hurled himself onto it" and Ces Mountford converted for 5-0. In the second half Brian Bevan cut through to reduce the lead to 5-3 but another loose pass soon let Wigan score again. Tommy Bradshaw scooped and combination between Ken Gee and Billy Blan saw Brian Nordgren finish for an 8-3 lead. Bradshaw then set up the winning try with his run finding Jack Blan before Jackie Hilton finished. With this being only one of three games to beat the weather, Wigan were able to go back top with neither Widnes or Bradford playing.
