25,000 turned out for this clash against Barrow which saw
Wigan "never master a good Barrow pack" but still do enough for the victory.
Ces Mountford's try had put Wigan into a 3-0 lead but a try from Longman saw
Barrow level at 3-3 by half time. In the second half a penalty from
Mountford edged Wigan 5-3 up before Brian Nordgren "scored easily" to wrap
up the win after Mountford converted for a 10-3 end scoreline. Good news
elsewhere had seen Widnes surprisingly fall 5-2 at home to Leigh which
allowed Wigan to cut their lead to two points at the top.
