Hunslet had been the only side to beat Wigan in the
league so far and repeated their earlier season victory at Central Park with
another in the return at Parkside. Hunslet scored three breakaway tries on
Wigan in the first half to take control with Wigan's only response being an
Eddie Watkins drop goal and a Ted Ward penalty goal. The result allowed
Wakefield to take over from Wigan at the top of the table.
