No scoring took place in the first half of this Lancashire Cup Final. Wigan though started the second half well and claimed a try from Ted Toohey but Martin Ryan couldn't convert. Widnes hit back with a try from Charlie Reynolds which made it 5-3 to them after Colin Hutton converted and he chipped a penalty later to send the Lancashire Cup to Widnes. Wigan overall had been disappointing in front of a crowd of 28,184 who paid £2,600 for the privilege.
