Report:

Getting Salford seven days after they'd played the Cup Final at Wembley was perhaps a gift but Wigan none the less were ruthless in dispatching them with a great victory.

They dominated the pack battle from the off and were afforded the luxury of allowing Tony Clubb and Ben Flower big game with little pressure on the result.

If anything Wigan could wasted chances in the opening minutes on at least three occasions but yet still registered three tries in the opening quarter. Two close range efforts from Sam Powell and then Liam Farrell finishing.

When Bevan French crossed for 24-0 on 26 minutes it was looking like a really big score was on the cards but Salford were fine with ball in hand it was without the ball they struggled.

They found some foothold when Kallum Watkins went through a poor tackle attempt by Oliver Gildart for 24-6 on the half hour but French soon brutally punished a failure to find touch with his second try for 30-6 before half time.

Tui Lolohea reduced the lead to 30-12 early second half but that lasted three minutes with a poor forward pass by Pauli Pauli quickly being punished by Jackson Hastings for 36-12.

Wigan pushed on with two tries from Oliver Gildart, a second for Liam Farrell and a classy finish for a hat-trick try by French completing a 58-12 victory. Zak Hardaker kicking nine out of ten conversions.
