On a day when 12,800 allied troops were lost in an offensive battle at Neuve Chappelle, Wigan were winning a midweek match against Runcorn. Later the Northern Union committee suspended the Runcorn Ground after the touch judge of this match complained of being "molested" (thats how the newspaper reported it" during and after this match.
