Summary:l

The logic of holding the Challenge Cup Semi Finals on Easter Saturday was made to look stupid here with Wigan playing a full reserve team against St Helens and none of the players that would play in the Semi Final. Wigan's Cup Opponents Wakefield meanwhile had "nursed" themselves through a 53-0 loss at Salford on this day, described as a "childish exhibition" in one newspaper. Despite playing their "A Team" Wigan had the better of the first half but despite going close to tries on four occasions, the only first half score was Gomer Gunn's penalty for a 2-0 lead. Saints took the lead with a Billy Briers try soon after the interval but Wigan went back 5-3 in front with Robert Parr's score. Fred Lilley's penalty made it 5-5 and Saints snatched the win with Isiah Harris' late try. This was Wigan's first loss at Central Park in 26 matches since 19th February 1908.
