Summary:l

This was a big game in the top 4 play off race and a loss that would prove very costly indeed for Wigan in the final shake up. Having won a cup tie 8-7 in midweek, they lost by the same score here. Liverpool had already had three chances before taking a 12th Minute lead with a try from Maloney. Wigan though had a 4-3 lead by half time after Jim Sullivan kicked two penalty goals. That was a flattering lead and Liverpool were back in front soon after half time with a drop goal (worth two points here) from Glover. He then scored a try in the 57th Minute to make it 8-4 with 23 minutes to go. Wigan rallied in the final ten minutes to find a try from Jack Garvey but Sullivan's penalty was just wide before he missed a penalty goal in the last minute. Either kick being made would have won the game for Wigan. Such a narrow difference between being three points behind Liverpool or one point ahead of them.
