Summary:l

Wigan made early mistakes in this "Wigan derby" but Highfield didn't take advantage. Slowly Wigan edged ahead with two Jim Sullivan penalty goals putting them 4-0 up before tries from Johnny Ring and Tommy Howley had them 10-0. Although Highfield scored twice themselves, Wigan were always in control of the game.
