Summary:l

Even though Saints Recs had won the previous season's challenge cup, this was a surprising result, more so for the margin of victory. Wigan made to many mistakes and were well beaten. Jim Sullivan did kick a half way line penalty goal for a 2-0 lead but Recs led 5-2 by half time and in the second half Wigan fell away badly.
