"Wigan well beaten at Oldham" was the headline as Wigan crashed of the Lancashire Cup. Oldham took the lead after just two minutes following a try by Benyon. But a goal from Jim Sullivan followed by a Billy Banks try put Wigan 5-3 ahead. Sadly he got injured scoring that try and had to retire from the game, leaving Wigan with 12 men for the remainder. Oldham kicked a penalty to level the scores at 5-5 before half time. Second Half saw Oldham have a wind advantage and once Hilton had given them the lead early on, they kicked on for a deserved victory. |
