Summary:

Wigan chose to re-arranged this match against Castleford for this pre Christmas Sunday having been postponed at the beginning of the month due to Regal Trophy involvement. Wigan struggled first half and Castleford found the lead after just 10 minutes when Nikau's great work saw Anderson score and Crooks convert for a 6-0 lead. A late challenge on Shaun Edwards saw Anderson sent to the sin bin but Wigan still laboured. Another late challenge on Edwards, this time by Crooks, allowed Botica to reduce the lead to 6-2 before the break. A second penalty goal, this time Ellis penalised for holding down, saw Botica make it 6-4 and really it was a bit of individual brilliance that got Wigan ahead. Substitute Joe Lydon scored a blinder from 40 metres out and Botica's conversion made it 10-6. 29 minutes still remained but it proved enough for the two points.
